Advanced Acol Bidding - Demo

The demo version contains 5 of the 200 hands.

Installation Demo Advanced Acol Bidding

1)	You execute the link, either directly or by saving the file.
2)	The downloaded program "demo-adv-acol(.exe)" suggests to extract the contained files to a folder "c:\games\qbtrain-d-adv-acol" ; you start this by clicking on the "unzip" button.
3)	At the end of the extraction, an installation program starts. It creates an icon at the desktop and entries in the Windows Start menu, you may start the program using one of that.

Advanced Acol Bidding - Download

The download contains the current version of the year 2011.
After the download you need the 16-character product key on the first page of the printed manual.
(This download has no demo function.)

Installation Advanced Acol Bidding

on all Windows versions (about 390 MB):

1)	You execute the link, either directly or by saving the file.
2)	The downloaded program "advanced-acol(.exe)" suggests to extract the contained files to a folder "c:\games\qbtrain.acm" ; you start this by clicking on the "unzip" button.
3)	At the end of the extraction, an installation program starts. It creates an icon at the desktop and entries in the Windows Start menu, you may start the program using one of that.

Information about Windows 7,8,10

This information is relevant for the (older) CDs "More Acol Bidding", not for the CDs "Advanced Acol Bidding".

The installation of the programs runs essentially in the same way as under Windows XP and as is described in the manual.
For the CDs before 2007 the (Windows) user needs administrator rights.

Please note the following items:

Some virus scanner report problems about files on CD; however, these are false alarms
- none of the files on the bridge CDs actually contains a virus.
Therefore, it is best if you switch off the virus scanner during the installation.
You do not run a risk if you have no active Internet connection (i.e. no open Internet browser, no open mail program).
The function to (temporarily) switch off the virus scanner is usually accessible
by a click with the right hand mouse button on its symbol at the bottom bar of the screen.
After you have loaded the CD into the CD drive the system asks if it should execute "Q-START.EXE".
You agree by clicking on it.
It then reports that the program "INSTALL.EXE" wants to access your computer, which you allow.
Then the installation starts.
As last step of the installation a small window titled "CD-Cops" is opened, where you are asked to enter the CD key.
For the CDs: "More Acol Bidding 2006" and "More Acol Bidding 2004",
you close this window and use the update from this page.
For the CD: "More Acol Bidding 2007"
you also close the "CD-Cops" window and run the built-in update,
i.e. you go to the Windows Start menu, then: all programs, then: Bidding Training,
then: "Update More Acol Bidding".
After the update (manually or built-in) you start the program by clicking on its icon at the screen.

More Acol Bidding Update

When you use an update, please make sure that it is the correct update.
It is described below which update belongs to which CD.

A) Update for the version 2004

The update contains the additions/corrections:

After the CD check terminates the program does not start but only opens the window "state of licence".
The statistics window shows bars for the play results also.
If you have achieved the trick goal (i.e. played correctly) then you are asked at the end of the play if you want to get the explanations.
If the explanation window "disappears" it can be restored by the menu item "View / Open explanation".

Update More Acol Bidding (2004) (about 950 KB)

Installation of the update:
(The bidding program itself may not run during the update, in particular not during step 2b.)

1) You download the file ("acm-upd-2004(.exe)") to a temporary folder, e.g. "c:\temp".
2) You execute the downloaded file in the temporary folder (by double clicking on it).
2a) It suggests to extract the contained files to the folder "c:\games\qbtrain.acm".
This must be the place where the original 'More Acol Bidding' has been installed.
2b) You start the extraction by the "unzip" button.
3) The next time when you start More Acol Bidding, the updated version
can be recognized in the menu item: "Help / About".

B) Update for the version 2006

The update contains the correction:

After the CD check terminates the program does not start but only opens the window "state of licence".

Installation of the update:
(The bidding program itself may not run during the update, in particular not during step 2b.)

1) You download the file ("acm-upd-2006(.exe)") to a temporary folder, e.g. "c:\temp".
2) You execute the downloaded file in the temporary folder (by double clicking on it).
2a) It suggests to extract the contained files to the folder "c:\games\qbtrain.acm".
This must be the place where the original 'More Acol Bidding' has been installed.
2b) You start the extraction by the "unzip" button.
